Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is a Eucharistic devotion whereby members of the faithful can pray before the Blessed Sacrament. Many times Jesus is visibly present when the Eucharist is exposed in a Monstrance. This is a very intimate form of Eucharistic Adoration; however, anytime we adore Christ in the Eucharist we are in Adoration, such as when we genuflect inside the church or bow prior to receiving Him in Communion. At St. Joseph, we have a small Adoration Chapel in which many parishioners visit throughout the day to adore Christ in the Tabernacle. be a Through Adoration we are able to fulfill the words of our Lord, “Indeed this is the will of My heavenly Father, that everyone who looks upon the Son, and believes in Him, shall have eternal life. Him I will raise up on the last day.”(John 6:40)
Spiritual benefits and graces of Adoration:
What to do when adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament:
This your time with Jesus. He wants you to spend time with Him and now you are present to Him. Relax and enjoy this intimate time with Jesus. You may pray, meditate, read prayer books, the bible, pray the rosary or just sit and relax and enjoy the peace that simply comes from being in the presence of God. Know that Jesus is pleased that you take this specific time to spend with Him. St. John Paul II said that, “our essential commitment in life is to persevere and advance constantly in Eucharistic life and piety and to grow spiritually in the climate of the Holy Eucharist.”
